Is there a fee to become a Member of AZA United?
No. The only requirement to become a Member of AZA United is to utilize our DDD services. As a Member, every family has the opportunity to participate in feedback, decision making, and strategic planning for the future.
How can AZA United provide so many free supports?
As a nonprofit co-op, our families are always represented in decisions about how to use our funding. Since our mission is based on improving quality of life for our children and families, it makes sense to provide more without putting an additional financial burden on the families. Our DDD services generate income which is first used to cover our expenses and service delivery. The remaining amount is then allocated based on what the Members decide is most important to their family and other families. To date we have chosen to invest these funds back into more trainings, family events and development of better habilitation programs. Although the Members could vote to charge for these services, our approach thus far has been to develop programs and plan activities that we can afford without having to charge the Members additional fees. It is a combination of selecting mission-based objectives and achieving them by using sound business principles.
What are the future growth plans for AZA United?
That is up to the Members! With each survey, Board meeting and Annual Membership Meeting we increase the input and feedback from our families that will shape the future. Our long-range goal is to be a statewide organization, most likely with different chapters so that Members can vote on issues and create programs specific to their geographical area. Since new families come aboard every day to receive our services, the needs of our membership will be forever evolving.
